FSU-Miami game draws ESPN’s largest audience ever

September 6th, 2006

“Florida State’s 13-10 victory over Miami on Monday night was ESPN’s most-viewed college football game ever,” according to an AP story released today.

6,330,000 households watched the game. Going by ratings, it pulled a 6.9. That’s the network’s second highest-rated college football game behind a 7.7 rating also gained by FSU-Miami game on Oct. 8, 1994.

You know it seems like it was just yesterday that I heard someone say no one cared about this game anymore.

FSU tops Miami in defensive battle

September 5th, 2006

FSU defense slams UM's Kyle Wright

In a close, defensive contest that went all the way to the last possession, FSU's defense was just too much for Miami. Neither offense was really able to do much, outside of a couple of long plays here and there. It was the defense for both teams that controlled the game.

FSU's defense looked really, really good. Especially for a squad that had four players drafted in the first round. Their linebackers were probably the highlight of the night, led by Buster Davis who had a monster game.

Good game, guys. Hopefully you can keep that momentum going throughout the season.
