When they said “we’re going to Babes” this isn’t what I had in mind

While in Texas over the weekend some co-workers and I ate at a place called Babes Chicken Dinner House. This place has no menus. Do you want chicken or chicken-fried steak?

They told me beforehand that those were your only options, but I wasn’t prepared for the lack of menus. The waitress brings your drinks and pulls out a pad with a chicken on one side and a cow head on the other. “Chicken or steak?” If you order chicken you get a breast, leg and thigh. If you order a steak, you get a piece of chicken-fried steak that’s about the size of a salad plate.

Then the whole table gets a huge bowl of mashed potatoes, a huge bowl of corn, and a large plate piled high with biscuits - all of which are refilled if they run low.

I have to admit the food was good. But even I, not what you would call a health-nut, might have to suggest you not eat at this place often.
