Just read about the potential new show from 20th Century with Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku. It’s the first show in a couple of years that I would actually be excited to see. Hope it works out.

OK, Jon Kitna may be my new favorite player. Dude came to a Lions party dressed as Lions defensive line coach Joe Cullen who was arrested last year for driving nude through a Wendy’s drive-through lane. And Kitna’s wife came as a drive-through worker.
Come on, that’s some funny sh!t.

The Dallas Cowboys signed QB Tony Romo to a six-year, $67.5 million contract that makes him the third-highest paid QB (by annual salary) in the NFL – ahead of Tom Brady and Brett Favre. Is that too much?
Romo is definitely the new it-guy. He’s the QB of the Cowboys, which always makes you famous, and he’s a good QB in the league who’s not named Brady, Favre, or Manning. So I can see the fascination. But Dan Le Batard co-hosted PTI today and said “you can’t name five quarterbacks better.” Oh really?!
OK, how about: Peyton, Brady, Palmer, Brees, and Bulger. That’s five, plus I left out Hasselbeck and Big Ben, who I could also make a case for. In fact, if you told me that I had to win one game right now I would take McNabb or Favre over Romo too. But I realize that Romo is likely to be playing long after they are gone.
I think Romo is good and I actually don’t think the ‘Boys overpaid for him. I think they should have paid whatever he asked because he’s an established star with a ton of potential. But I’m not ready to put him among the top-5 QBs in the league yet.

I don’t get it. One of NASCAR’s top historical moments is the famous fight between Donnie Allison and Cale Yarborough as the checkered flag is flying at Daytona. Yet Carl Edwards merely acts like he’s going to, or wants to, punch Matt Kenseth and everyone comes out of the woodwork to label him a troublemaker.
Really? Is he that bad of a guy, or was it a situation where the evidence was caught on film and gives everyone an easy target?

From September ‘06 …
Adam starts out having a conversation with an 800-pound woman (500 lbs. according to her, but who’s counting) who made the news because her husband was having sex with her daughter (his step-daughter) in front of her. Being that large, she was powerless to do anything to stop it. The conversation moved to the woman’s other daughter and that girl’s boyfriend.
You quickly realize this family is likely one of the most screwed up excuses for a family you’ll ever hear about. That, of course, starts Adam on a rant about too many screwed up people having too many kids. He describes all of the ways that our tax dollars are supporting people like this. That makes us their employer of sorts, which should give us some say over a few things.
A classic Adam Carolla rant. Click the play button below to listen.

I’m not trying to run down SI or claim that they are dead. I’m really wondering what their reach is these days?
I was just reading ESPN and noticed that Rick Reilly, who was famous for writing the back-page story every week in SI, is moving to ESPN. My first thought was “wow, he’s a staple at SI” but then my second thought was “wow, I haven’t thought about him in years.” And I quickly realized that I hadn’t really thought about SI in years either.
I don’t read magazines. I get my news online. I have a number of sports-related news feeds that I read through Google Reader, but SI isn’t one of them. No particular reason, I guess. It’s just that ESPN is pretty much the dominant source for sports info so that’s what I go with for the headlines. Then I’ll add in other stuff like Jayski (also owned by ESPN) for my NASCAR inside info.
So, I’m wondering if most people are doing the same. Or if they are doing better than I think in their transition from print to online. It’s no secret that magazines aren’t what they used to be, but it’s a little surprising to me that such an iconic magazine like SI hasn’t even come to mind for me – a huge sports fan and previous subscriber – in years.
