Daily Show: Cheney an open book in Wolf Blitzer interview
P. Diddy forgets he’s not wearing sunglasses
The Justice League is formed on tonight’s Smallville
This is the episode everyone’s been waiting for. Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg return to town to join Clark and Green Arrow in a fight against Lex. Looking forward to seeing this one.
You can check out the first 12 minutes on Yahoo.
UPDATE: That’s weird. The episode description on Yahoo! TV and TVGuide both call Flash “Impulse”. I’m not a comic expert so maybe he went by Impulse first?
Entourage coming back April 8
| A little while back I heard it was March 18. But now it’s being reported that Entourage (and Sopranos) will be returning on April 8 with the second half of Season Three. If you missed the first half, Entourage Season Three Part One will be available on DVD on April 3. Buy the set and power through the first 12 episodes on Saturday and Sunday before the premiere on Sunday evening. Or you can probably catch them on reruns. Looks like HBO is rerunning every episode in order. |
Arizona Cardinals sign Whisenhunt as new head coach
Wow. Well, I’m surprised. I really thought the Steelers would hire him. But, in a move that I’m sure surprised more than just me, Ken Whisenhunt has signed on to become the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Of all the places, I just didn’t see him in Arizona because of their history of bad decisions on the part of their owner. Still, it makes sense. He’s an offensive guy and they have a ton of talent on that side of the ball. I’m sure Matt Leinart and his trio of very talented receivers are no doubt very excited to see what he can bring to that offense.
Wonder who he’ll bring in to coach the D?
Reggie Bush gets lit up
Reggie Bush had a great game in helping the Saints advance to the NFC Championship. But his day didn’t start out great. On the second play of the game, Sheldon Brown just knocks him the F out. Bush tried to get up from it, but fell back down and then tried to crawl off the field. Check out the video.
AP finally runs a story on cell-phone videos transforming news, but misses big piece
When Michael Richards made headlines for a racially-charged rant while on stage, I thought the most interesting part of the story was how it came out. I guess with the leak of video showing the Saddam hanging, AP decided to finally run this story.
While I’m glad that a story was written, I think the writer totally missed a huge part of the story. The biggest contributing factor in user-captured video was YouTube. YouTube – and other services like it, including Metacafe and Google Video – have enabled average citizens to take something they captured and immediately post it online for all the world to see. He said that user video “didn’t gain significant acceptance in the United States until Sprint introduced a popular service”. That’s crazy. No one would care about paying for that service if there were no places like YouTube to post it.
Toyota and Nissan want us to prove we’re not going to drink and drive
I drink less than most people I know and I never drive drunk. So, the odds of me ever having to worry about not being this are remote. Yet, I’m concerned when I read that Toyota is hoping by 2009 to roll out shut-down systems in their cars if they detect you’ve had to much to drink and not allow you to drive it. I’m even more concerned when I read that Nissan has similar plans.
Yeah, I know that drinking and driving is a problem. No, I don’t want anyone drinking and driving. And, yes, I’m quite sure that people will argue that lives will be saved by this and if only one life is saved than it’s worth it. Well, I’m going to take a side that some might not like, but I disagree.
See, my biggest pet peeve is when someone decides to treat everyone like criminals. I don’t like when I must prove my innocence. If you tell me that in the United States we are innocent until proven guilty, why would you ask me to prove I’m not drunk in order to drive my car? This is the same beef I have with the music companies. You can’t sell me a song in mp3 format – even though it’s the one format that will play on every portable music device out there – because you assume that we’ll all put them on the Internet for everyone to download free. You assume we’re all pirates.
When I go to the mall I always see the alarm go off at one store or another. In most cases, the person just gets waved on by the store clerk. Sometimes the scanner just didn’t demagnify the product and the guy runs it again and sends the shopper on their way. Either way, false alarm and annoyance to the customer. We’ve all seen it. For all the false alarms, I’d love to know how their theft has gone down. (By the way, what happens when your car has a false alarm and suddenly you can’t drive to work that morning? There’s no clerk around to wave you on.)
Is the inconvenience of so many worth the few that you’ve stopped? Some might say yes, but I don’t agree. It’s just a matter of principle to me. Personally, I think the overwhelming majority of people are good. And I don’t like it when I’m asked to prove that I’m not one of the few bad ones.
