NBA’s new crybaby rule could be fun to watch
I love watching basketball. When a talented group of NBA players are working to perfection, it’s a beautiful thing. Even with it’s lack of defense, I enjoy watching the all-star game every year. What I don’t enjoy is watching and listening to a bunch of idiots on the court who think it’s their God-given right to make millions of dollars playing NBA basketball. That’s why it’s even harder to watch these same guys lose their minds when a call goes against them.
With that in mind, I am really happy to see NBA Commish David Stern trying to do something about it. Some are calling it the crybaby rule, and I think I like that name. All the rule says is you’re going to get a technical foul if you start whining and complaining over a ref’s call. It’s really intended to stop guys like Rasheed Wallace who act like some crime against humanity was just committed every time he is called for a foul. His eyes bug out, he throws up his hands and stomps his feet. Yep, just like a four-year-old crybaby. And when a four-year-old is under proper supervision, he/she will generally be punished for acting out.
I hope it’s strictly enforced cause it could be fun to watch. These guys have gotten out of control and I’m ready to see it reined in. Unfortunately, some guys who aren’t really acting that crazy will likely get caught in the crossfire, but I’m all for coming down harder than necessary to make a point. This isn’t life or death, it’s just basketball.
