Went to Dragon*Con today

Boba Fett

Went to the Dragon*Con convention today. It’s held every Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, and while I’ve lived in Atlanta for 8 years this is the first time I ever went.

Unfortunately, that inexperience came back to bite me. I found out the hard way that failing to buy a ticket in advance means you’re probably not getting in on Saturday. We stood in line for about 3 hours only to finally get inside the building and realize there was about another 3 hour wait inside. So we bailed.

Still, it was fun seeing all the freaks and geeks in costume - many of which I didn’t recognize. But Dragon*Con is not just sci-fi, it has a lot of gaming stuff too so I figured some of them were characters from games, and I’m not a gamer.

Besides, it made me feel just a little less geeky to not know who some people were supposed to be. Just like I feel better looking every time I go to a NASCAR race, I felt a lot more cool in the midst of a sea of nerds.

Then again, I stood in line for 3 hours (in vain) just to get in.
